How a Wolf wall oven reports a fault
Wolf built-in wall ovens are the most code-rich Wolf appliances, and they use three non-overlapping schemes — one per series. The legacy E Series reports text phrases plus a single numeric door-lock code; the current M Series reports four-digit numeric codes with on-screen messages; and the CSO Convection Steam oven reports paired codes. The schemes must never be mixed, so the first step in any Wolf oven repair is identifying which series you own from the model suffix.
E Series codes
The E Series shows the door-lock failure as F1 — common after a self-clean cycle — and reports everything else in plain text: “RTD Open” or “RTD Shorted” for the temperature sensor, “Temp Probe Short” for the meat probe, “Over Temp”, “Brownout error”, “No Bake/Broil/Conv element detect”, “No Convect/Cooling Fan detect”, and keypad or communication errors. A probe readout of “998” means partially inserted and “0” means not inserted — neither is an error.
M Series codes
The M Series uses four-digit numeric codes where the first digit groups the fault: 0021/0022 a shorted upper/lower bake relay, 0821/0822 a shorted lock relay, 3031/3032 a shorted probe, 3121–3222 the RTD shorted or open, 4421/4422 a cooling fan not detected, 4531/4631 a convection fan not detected, and 5021/5121 over-temperature in clean and non-clean modes. The touchscreen also shows plain messages such as “Touch Pad Sensor Fault” and a flashing PROBE.
CSO steam codes, and when to call
The CSO Convection Steam oven uses paired codes: E17/F1 a food-probe short, E18 high probe resistance, E29/F9 the chamber not sealed, F4/E87 a steam-generator or temp-sensor fault, and E09 a PT sensor short. Across all three series, a one-off door-lock code after self-clean often clears with a full cool-down and a breaker reset; a recurring lock fault, an RTD or probe fault, a fan-not-detected code, an over-temperature trip or a steam-generator fault needs an experienced technician with the correct part.
