About Wolf ranges.

Wolf ranges are freestanding pro cookers in three platforms — DF dual fuel, GR gas, and IR induction — built around dual-stacked sealed burners, Dual VertiCross convection, and an infrared broiler, in 30", 36", 48", and 60" widths from the DF30450 to the GR606CG.

The Wolf ranges lineup

Wolf ranges are freestanding, pro-style cookers built on three platforms. Dual Fuel (DF) models pair gas surface burners with a precise electric convection oven — the 30″ DF30450, the 36″ DF36650 and DF36450G, and the 48″ DF48850 and DF60650F up to 60″. Gas (GR) models run all-gas — the GR304, GR366, GR488, and the 60″ GR606CG and GR606DG. Induction (IR) models add a full-color touchscreen and an induction cooktop — the IR30450/S/T and IR36550/S/P in 30″ and 36″. You can review the current range on the manufacturer’s hub at subzero-wolf.com/wolf and the models we service in our model directory.

Wolf ranges technologies that matter

The strengths of Wolf ranges come from their burners, convection, and oven modes. The dual-stacked sealed burners deliver high output at the upper ring (around 20,000 Btu for searing) and an exceptionally low lower ring (near 300 Btu) for a true simmer, while the Dual VertiCross™ convection system circulates heat through twin fans for even multi-rack baking. An in-oven infrared broiler sears at high heat, and on 48″ and 60″ models an optional infrared charbroiler (about 16,000 Btu) and infrared griddle (about 15,000 Btu) extend the cooktop. Gourmet Mode offers roughly fifty guided automatic presets, and a temperature probe cooks to a precise internal temperature. The oven runs ten cooking modes — Bake, Broil, Convection, Convection Roast, Dehydrate, Gourmet, Proof, Roast, Stone, and Warm. Because the burners, igniters, oven elements, RTD sensor, door lock, and control board vary by DF, GR, or IR build, parts matched to your model number are essential for a lasting repair.

Common Wolf range problems and codes

A Wolf range is diagnosed on two fronts — the cooktop and the oven control. On Dual Fuel and induction models the electric oven board reports numeric and text codes:

  • 01 — door-lock malfunction (the lock is not sensed within 60 seconds; common after a self-clean).
  • 02 — over-temperature (630°F unlocked or 950°F locked).
  • 03 / 04 — open or shorted RTD oven temperature sensor.
  • 0E — power relay shorted or stuck.
  • PF — power failure, or the oven is too hot for the selected mode.
  • COMM ERR / COOL FAN / LOWER RELAY — lost communication with the oven controller, cooling-fan failure, or a lower-oven relay feedback problem.

Wolf uses 01-04, not F1-F4. Gas (GR) burner problems — a burner that won’t ignite, continuous clicking (usually moisture in the igniter well that dries out in 24-48 hours), or a weak flame — have no error codes and are diagnosed by symptom. For meanings and next steps, see our Wolf range error codes.

Maintenance essentials

  • Keep the dual-stacked burner ports and caps clean and correctly seated so they light cleanly.
  • Dry the burners thoroughly after cleaning — moisture in the igniter well is the top cause of clicking.
  • Wipe the oven door seal and check it holds baking heat.
  • Run the self-clean cycle sparingly, and reset the breaker for 30-60 seconds if a code recurs.
  • Use flat, ferromagnetic cookware on IR induction models for reliable detection.

Choosing the right Wolf range for your kitchen

A Wolf range is chosen first by fuel and then by width and modules. A Dual Fuel model keeps the responsive gas cooktop many cooks prefer but pairs it with a precise electric convection oven that bakers favor for steady, even heat; an all-gas GR model gives the instant, visible flame control of gas throughout; and an induction IR model heats ferromagnetic cookware directly for the fastest, most efficient, easiest-to-clean surface, with a full-color touchscreen on current units. Width is the next decision: a 30″ range suits most kitchens, a 36″ adds burners, and the 48″ and 60″ models give the most cooking surface plus room for an integrated charbroiler or griddle. Styling runs from Professional with the signature red knobs to minimalist Contemporary. If your cooker is a cooktop-only surface with no oven beneath, it is an SRT rangetop, covered under rangetop repair instead. Confirming the exact DF, GR, or IR model, fuel, and any griddle or charbroiler module lets a technician arrive with the correct burner, igniter, element, sensor, or board.

When to call for Wolf range repair

Burner ignition systems, oven RTD sensors and elements, self-clean door locks, cooling fans, and control boards are best handled by experienced technicians who can read the 01-04 codes and fit Wolf-specific parts from trusted suppliers. Note the exact code or symptom and your DF, GR, or IR model number when you book. Diagnostic visits start from $129, with a labor guarantee on the workmanship; the total depends on parts and configuration. Schedule Wolf range repair or book an appointment online.
